The Best Time of Day to Apply for Jobs in Pakistan
January 6, 2025
You probably think when you apply doesn't matter, but you're wrong. I've been tracking this stuff for years and the pattern is super clear: timing is everything. Let me tell you what actually goes on.
Most jobs here get posted super late - like 10 PM to 2 AM. Weird right? HR people work late, especially in Karachi and Lahore. They post at night so by morning they have a fresh batch ready to look at. It's not random, it's on purpose.
Here's the deal: job gets posted at midnight, first applications roll in around 1-2 AM from people with alerts or night owls. By 7-8 AM, HR starts their day and opens their inbox. If you applied at 7 AM, you're in that first batch - maybe like 20-30th in line. But if you applied at 2 PM? You're probably 200-300th. Which ones do you think get attention?
I've had HR managers straight up tell me they have a "first 50 rule" - they actually read the first 50, then they just skim. If the first batch is good, they don't even look at the rest. Not fair but that's how it is. You want to be in that first 50.
Best time? Early morning, 7-9 AM. Your application hits their inbox right when they start work. Fresh eyes, full attention. I've seen average candidates get shortlisted just because they applied early and were in that first batch.
Don't apply in the afternoon, especially after 2 PM. By then the inbox is flooded. Your application is buried. Plus HR people are tired by afternoon and start rushing. Your perfect CV might get 5 seconds instead of the 20-30 it deserves.
Weekends are weird. People think applying on weekends is smart because less competition. But HR doesn't check on weekends. Your application just sits there until Monday morning, by which time it's buried under Monday's fresh applications. If you have to apply on weekends, Sunday evening is better than Saturday - closer to Monday morning.
Exception: if a job says "Urgent" or "Immediate hiring" - apply right away no matter what time. These have tight deadlines and being early matters even more.
Practical tip: set up alerts on Rozee and Mustakbil. Most portals let you set email or SMS alerts. When you get one, don't wait. If it's during the day, apply within 2-3 hours. If it's late at night, set an alarm for 7 AM and apply first thing.
Check portals twice a day - morning around 8 AM and evening around 8 PM. This catches both the late-night posts (you'll see in morning) and daytime posts (you'll catch in evening).
Timing alone won't get you hired, but it can seriously boost your chances of being seen. Good timing + good CV + relevant experience = way better results.
